Aquaculture ID delivers African catfish broodstock to farm in Mali

28 April 2018

High quality “Dutch strain” African catfish broodstock is the result of over 30 years of selection in our own hatchery in The Netherlands. Selection criteria were stress and disease resistance, growth speed and meat percentage. The result is a fish that is perfectly fitting the needs a the catfish farmer! This is also appreciated by farmers in Africa and as a result Aquaculture ID regularly ships African catfish fry or broodstock to farms on that continent.

Today we shipped 10 pieces of 2kg, ready to use, African catfish brooders to Mali. The fish are packed in special bags with water and oxygen. These bags fit exactly in polystyrene boxes, that act as an isolation to maintain water temperature. The shipment is accompanied with the required documentation, like a health certificate, in order to be excepted in by the local government in the country of destination. Aquaculture ID is very capable of arranging all the required documents, since we have very good contacts with the Dutch Veterinary Authority, Chamber of Commerce and other organizations.

The fish arrived safely and only two days after arrival the first female was stripped and produced 200,000 healthy African catfish fry!
